RI SHRM Fall Legislative Breakfast

RI SHRM’s Legislative Affairs Committee will be hosting its fall legislative breakfast on September 13, 2018 at the Crowne Plaza.  Over a breakfast buffet, attendees will hear from the following distinguished speakers:

• Mickey Silberman, Esq., a partner with the Denver-based law firm of Fortney & Scott, is a nationally-recognized expert on gender pay equity and systemic pay discrimination in the workplace.  He will provide an overview of efforts throughout the United States to achieve pay equity through legislation.  He also will provide practical tips on how to design a compensation system to identify and address the subtle barriers to pay equity.
• Meredith Nethercutt, SHRM’s Director of Member Advocacy, will provide an overview of legislative developments on the federal level and the potential impacts on RI SHRM members.  She also will discuss her work on behalf of SHRM’s A-Team and the importance of advocacy by members of the HR profession.
• Brian Lamoureux, Esq., a partner with the Rhode Island-based law firm of Pannone, Lopes, Devereaux & O’Gara, will share his insight and perspective on state legislative developments and the potential impacts on RI SHRM members.  A subject matter expert on technology issues in the workplace, he also will present on social media and cybersecurity issues of concern to all HR professionals.
