Succession Planning – Creating a Succession Plan, with DEPTH in Mind

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: 

In this Lunch and Learn, the program will focus on how succession planning is the process for identifying and developing internal personnel with the potential to fill key or critical organizational positions. Succession planning ensures the availability of experienced and capable employees that are prepared to assume these roles as they become available.

SPEAKERS DETAILS & BIOS: 


GARY CONVERTINO, Ed.D., SHRM-CP/PHR

Dr. Gary Convertino is a seasoned Human Resources Executive, Consultant, Professional Coach, and Professor with 20 years of successful experience in human resources management, DEI, human Capital success, strategy, business development, change management, administration and financial stewardship.  Gary is a Sr. Consultant and Coach with 3P HR Consulting, which focuses on the 3 Ps of HR – People, Process and Policy, with the most important being People.  Gary is a member of Rhode Island’s Society for Human Resource Management, American Society of Training and Development, and is the Chairperson for the Pawtucket Personnel Board.  In addition, Gary supports people in transition at Job Club RI, and is a “Big Brother” for students through RISE (Rhode Islanders Serving Education) among other volunteer venues he pursues.  

Recent accomplishments – Dean College:

  • Lead Colleges organizational strategy implementation that included enhancements to the Student Financial Planning & Services Department, IT Department Organizational Restructure, Marketing Department Staff Enhancements, and Human Resources Rebranding. 

  • Instituted an In-House Learning Management System (LMS) that created an internal portal for Human Resources and Compliance Training for all Staff/Faculty.

  • Directed an Active Recruitment Protocol to enhance the pool of qualified and diversified candidates for Staff/Faculty open positions. Initiated Diversity Program. 

  • Directed College functions including Human Resources, Facilities, Campus Safety, Landscaping/Grounds, and Custodial.  Served closely with IT and Institutional Advancement.

  • Restructured College Benefits Program to include Wellness, Training and Development, Volunteer Benefits and Community Discounts at local Stores/Services.

  • Served the Senior Management Leadership Team to enhance College-wide organizational effectiveness and strategic planning.  

  • Dealt with Employee Relations, EEOC/Legal/NLRB, Compensation, Workforce Design, HRIS/Payroll, etc.

  • Served on the Crisis Management, Disaster Recovery, and Campus Safety Committees.
