Exploring Mental Health and Ways to Address and Support Mental Health Challenges in the Workplace

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

As May is Mental Health Awareness Month, it feels like the appropriate time to gather to learn and share with each other what different organizations are experiencing among their employees with regard to challenges with mental health, and what your company is doing, if anything.

With employee retention becoming ever more challenging for most businesses, it’s critical to focus on our employees, and that includes their mental health.

According to The Hartford’s 2021 Future of Benefits report, employers and employees perspectives around access to mental health resources vary significantly: 82% of employers suggest their employees have more access to mental health resources than previously; only 50% of workers agree. That same report suggests that 79% of employers revealed improvement in their employees’ mental health due to resources the company provides while only 35% of workers agree. Separately, a 2021 McKinsey study found that 30% of employees mentioned their return to the workplace added to depression and feelings of anxiousness. The list goes on and on.

The reality is, mental health is an issue, and one that companies, HR Professionals, and managers need to learn to support and invest in.  And, many managers and HR professionals are experiencing their own mental health challenges.

Together, we will discuss:

What mental health is,

  • Why it’s an important focus for organizations, and
  • Explore ways companies can help to make a difference
  • Come ready to engage, learn and share.
