PRESENTER:

Suzanne Hanlon, Business Development Officer, RISLA

Suzanne Hanlon has worked in the Student Financial Aid Industry for the past 30 years.

Her career began working for Connecticut’s State Guarantee Agency – CSLF – before direct lending existed and then went to work for a small business school in Connecticut where she administered the loan program and all aspects within financial aid according to Federal Regulations.

For the past twenty-six and a half years she has been a Financial Aid Administrator at the University of Connecticut. There she also performed the office’s outreach and advised countless students, parents, families, and the surrounding community population on how to finance an education and financial literacy.

She administered the Federal and Alternative Loan programs which included implementing a new loan module and she helped to create on-line entrance counseling. Additionally, she directed the Dependency Override process and worked with the Homeless Student Population. She was lead for the SAP Process and coordinated Graduate Financial Aid, Pharm-D programs, Summer Financial Aid, and different Nursing programs.

In addition, she was on the University Orientation Committee for years to educate and advise incoming and transfer students and advised and mentored students on academic issues and to assist students with developing effective strategies for success.

Currently she works for RISLA and the division of Employer Student Loan Repayment – which is an innovative, highly impactful financial wellness employee benefit. This is a benefit for a workforce struggling with student loan debt.
