Leadership Lessons from Left Field

How your personal stories can impact your business life

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

There are so many great books and classes about business and leadership. However, the best lessons I have learned about business come from unexpected places. Growing up as the youngest of 10 children taught me to adjust how I communicate, depending on which sibling I was talking to. Doing improvisational acting teaches great skills for conflict resolution. If you want to learn negotiation skills, pay attention to a child who wants something from an adult!

With degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Psychology I will bring a unique and wholistic perspective to leadership and communication. In this talk we will discuss how good story telling provides TMI Teaching, Motivation and Inspiration, as well as the 3 key things that a good story needs.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  1. Learn what makes stories memorable
  2. Explore what makes stories relatable
  3. Discover the importance of incongruity in stories
