The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by providing accessible resources and tools to enhance online safety and security.

About Our Speaker:

Martin Truchon
Department Chair of Computer Science & Professor
New England Institute of Technology
Martin Truchon is the Department Chair of Computer Science and a Professor at the New England Institute of Technology in East Greenwich, RI. With a career spanning over four decades in education, he has played a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape in computer science and information technology.
Since October 2022, Martin has led the Computer Science department, overseeing its academic and administrative functions. Prior to this role, he served as the Assistant Department Chair for Information Technology, where he managed student and instructor concerns. His teaching career at NEIT began in 1988 as an Adjunct Instructor, progressing to Assistant Professor of Information Technology from 2004 to 2008 and eventually to a full Professor in 2023.
Before transitioning to higher education, Martin dedicated nearly 30 years to secondary education. He taught mathematics at Shea High School in Pawtucket, RI, from 1985 to 2004, and at Slater Jr. High School from 1975 to 1985.
Martin holds a Master of Science degree from Johnson & Wales University and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary Education and Mathematics from St. Leo College. His expertise spans curriculum development, computer programming in C++ and Python, operating systems including Linux and Microsoft, network operating systems, ethical hacking, and network scripting.
In addition to his extensive academic contributions, Martin has developed and instructed courses in networking for small businesses, network fundamentals, routing and switching essentials, and ethical hacking. His dedication to education and technology continues to inspire students and faculty alike.
